Latrobe Special Developmental School provides a comprehensive curriculum for students with intellectual and associated disabilities between the ages of 5 and 18 years who reside in Latrobe City. The School provides a specialised and challenging curriculum in a supportive environment that promotes personal independence and a valued lifestyle.
Teaching and learning takes place in spacious, well-equipped rooms surrounded by well established and attractive gardens.The school has shaded playgrounds with climbing equipment, a bicycle track, an in ground trampoline. There is a range of specialised areas such as sensory rooms, a multipurpose room,an independent living centre and a hydro therapy pool. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard and access to specialised equipment such as augmentative communication devices and massage equipment to meet student needs.

Parents are encouraged to attend special assemblies that acknowledge and celebrate student positive behaviour. The school reward systems include tickets, certificates, Aussie of the month and special activities on PBS Fridays. The Aussie of the Month is a whole school assembly that is held each month (where applicable) and parents are able to attend if they want. We strongly encourage the parents/carers of the recipient to attend.as this is considered quite a prestigious award.

Students are transported by contract buses to and from School each day and participate in the school programs between the hours of 9.00 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.
Recess times are 10 am to 10.30 am and Lunch times
are approximately 12.00 – 1.00 however these times can vary depending on the type of activitiy taking place during a school day.
Students are supervised at all times throughout breaks.
